Scheduling
-
One lesson per week. Music Lessons are 30 minutes and Art Lessons are one hour.
Students who are late cannot expect to have more than the remaining time for their lesson.
Group piano and violin lessons are available.
-
“Little Concerts” and other performances are considered lessons. Those students who do not prepare will not be permitted to participate in major concerts.
-
In addition to the lesson, the students are required to do their homework.
-
Breaks are scheduled according to the Alexander City School Calendar.
-
Studios do not close when the School Board closes schools due to inclement weather.
-
Music students should be dropped off and picked up with no more than 5 minutes on either side of their scheduled time. Some students are easily distracted or are very shy about playing in front of other people, and I want to make sure each student gets their full music lesson without interruption.
-
I am not responsible for providing before or after lesson care for students.
-
No food or drinks are permitted in the studios. Gum chewing is not allowed by the student in lessons.
-
Parents are welcome to attend any lessons. Please do not attempt to engage the teacher in conference about your child during another student’s time.
-
Make-up lessons will not be given for canceled or missed lessons except for those canceled by the teacher. Please make an effort to schedule other activities around your lesson time. To facilitate a make-up lesson for an expected absence from an upcoming lesson, please contact me a week in advance for names of other students who may be able to switch lesson times with you for the missed lesson week only.

Supplies
-
Supplies needed for Music and Art Lessons will be discussed at the lesson.
-
Lesson books are an important part of the lessons. You can expect to purchase new lesson material every 4-6 months depending upon the student’s progress.
-
A metronome is required and is very important, especially for intermediate and advanced students.
-
Music flashcards are required for the younger students.
The study of music and art is rewarding and enjoyable, but it also requires work!
It is my desire to work with the parents’ support in nurturing the musical or artistic education of the child. Children are motivated to practice when their parents take an active, daily interest.
Thank you and best wishes!
